My name is Sarah,

and I own Sassafras Studio. Design is something that I love: watching as something comes to life before me, because I made it happen, is still awe inspiring even after all these years.

I graduated from West Chester University with a BA in graphic design, and again with a BS in marketing.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me outside somewhere adventuring. I love to hike with my husband and our three dogs, Archie, Lefty, and Prince. I try to see as much of the world as possible, from the nooks and crannies of Delaware and our surrounding areas to the sandy deserts out west and the busy city streets across the world.

I opened Sassafras Studio in 2018 as a side job to stretch out my design skills while working as an art director for a local company. In 2019, after 7 years with that company, I left to begin my journey with Sassafras Studio full time, and haven’t looked back since. The ups and downs of 2020 left me nervous, but still thriving. It’s been a privilege and a joy getting to grow as I pull myself out of the pandemic as an individual, as well as with my long term clients, to come back stronger than ever.

DESIGN.

I love to design, I can’t help it. There’s something about plucking an idea out of thin air and making it come to life in such a physical sense that makes me so excited to create.

Design is an instrumental part of marketing, it’s what grabs your viewers attention and makes them want more. By taking a product or service and making it into a visual to put in the hands of your target audience, you’re able to show them what you have to offer rather than just tell them. Once you show them, you’re able to explain what it is that sets you apart from the competition and market yourself properly with their full attention on what you have to offer them.

MARKETING.

Marketing is, to me, a natural segue from design.

While many people can make a beautiful design, it takes a fine tuned knowledge to properly use it to create a tool to market that design to a defined target audience. Being able to research, adapt, and execute a plan to a specific consumer behavior relevant to the service or product to utilize it’s strong suits is a skill that is learned, and honed with natural inclination.

Bridging the proverbial gap between design and marketing is something I pride myself on being able to do. I do not believe that one can operate without the other at maximum efficiency.
